FUN THINGS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY

Many brides and grooms find traditional wedding ceremonies austere, dull and uninteresting.  But it doesn’t have to be this way.  There are many opportunities to include fun and humour into your wedding ceremony to lift and put a smile on everyone’s lips.

It must be remembered that your ceremony is the legal component of your wedding day and your vows must contain wording prescribed under the Marriage Act.  But you can incorporate a multitude of light-hearted, enjoyable inclusions and additions into your ceremony and I have listed some below so you can become inspired in building your stimulating and fun-filled ceremony. 

 

-	Consider including your pet into the wedding ceremony.  Your much loved pooch or cat can become an integral part of your wedding day and bring much joy into your celebration.
-	If you have chosen a home/garden wedding, consider using a wooden bench as a guestbook.  Each guest can sign his/her name with a permanent marker and it will remain in your garden forever.
-	Include an amusing line in your vows. There’s nothing wrong with promising to love him unconditionally, vow to comfort him when his team loses and drink beer with him when they win.  He can vow to spend the rest of his days making her happy and promise to always put the seat down, replace the toilet roll and bring flowers once per month.
-	Scatter some humorous quotations throughout your ceremony, some examples – “Love is much nicer to be in than a car accident, a tight girdle, a higher tax bracket or a holding pattern over Melbourne.” - Judith Viorst.   “No man is truly married until he understands every word his wife is NOT saying.” – Unknown.   “Always laugh when you can.  It is cheap medicine.” – Lord Byron
-	If yours is a beach/lawn wedding, bring along a cricket bat, skittles, quoits, Frisbees, tennis racquets and balls and play some games after the wedding ceremony and before the Reception is due to begin – remember to take photos.   Don’t forget the sunscreen and refreshments.
-	Let me help you design and generate an entertaining and mirthful wedding day program.  You may wish to include snippets of your life and or life/relationship “bloopers”, amusing photos, profound quotations with the front cover headed :   “So you are going to sit through a wedding”   You can surprise your guests with it’s contents and inject a wonderful energy into your beautiful and enjoyable wedding ceremony.
